Detention or Truck Waiting Fee

Detention or Truck Waiting Fee

A detention or truck waiting fee is applied hourly when a driver is compelled to wait at the pickup or delivery location due to circumstances beyond their control. These circumstances may include:
  1. Congestion at a port or warehouse where pickup or delivery is scheduled.
  2. Delay because the freight is not prepared for loading or unloading.
  3. Absence of anyone available to receive the driver for pickup or delivery.
  4. Additional freight is provided compared to what is listed on the bill of lading (BOL), necessitating reorganization and consolidation to accommodate.
  5. Incorrect pickup or delivery address causing a delay.
In each of these scenarios, the driver's waiting time is subject to a fee charged by the hour.
